This visa lets older parents live permanently in Australia if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
Requirements:
- hold a temporary Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 884)
- Must be the parent of a child who is settled in Australia and is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen
- Must be sponsored by an eligible sponsor.
- Men must be older than 65 years of age to apply for this visa.
- Women should be:
- born before 30 June 1947, you can apply at the age of 64
- born between 1 July 1947 and 31 December 1948, you can apply when you are 64.5 years of age
- born after 1 January 1949, you can apply when you turn 65.
- The balance of family test requires that half the children must be permanently resident in Australia or have or children permanently residing in Australia than any other overseas single country
